Church Life
We strive to serve God as the hands and feet of Christ; our outreach extends outside the church walls to our community. We do this in the following ways:
*Soup Kitchen: Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month we take a meal to shut-ins in our community, most often homemade soup from our excellent cooks. Some recipients are members of our church family, but most are those we hear about who would love a smiling face delivering lunch. If you know of anyone in Nixon who might need this service, call Margaret Davis at 830-477-7926.
*God's Storehouse Food Bank: Associated with Golden Crescent Food Bank of Victoria, we have God's Storehouse Nixon open every Thursday from 9-11a.m. The building is located at the rear of church campus, a small white stand-alone building at the end of Sunday School Rooms.
*Helping Hands: Starting with our Soup Kitchen recipients, we will be doing repairs of various kinds to their homes and property. We have noticed many porches/stairs that need repairing, bushes/trees needing trimming, and general cleanup needed. The labor will be provided for these things, but our church budget for this area needs support. If you are in a position to help with budget or would like to help as we schedule and provide this service, please contact Pastor Audrey at 512-799-9820. As you see our red shirt workers around town, give God the glory for the workers in the field.
Friday of each month, starting at 6:00pm, we host game night at someone's home. Bring a game you enjoy, or be part of a 42 table or Rummikub table or our "just here to talk, I don't like games" table. If you'd like, bring a snack to share and your favorite non-alcoholic beverage.
Bridge group meets at 1:00 pm on Mondays and are always looking for players or substitutes, call Gladyne Finch or Margaret Davis if you would like to join or sub.
Ladies Lunch Bunch will meet the 3rd Thursday of each month to have a meal and devotion together somewhere in our 30 mile radius of Nixon. Please let Tavie Murphy or Pastor Audrey know if you would like to be on our call list for this event.
